Experiencing difficulties in life is something we all face at one time or another. When those difficulties affect our lives significantly, we can feel overwhelmed by them. At such times it is only natural to seek help.
By deciding to begin therapy with a qualified professional means you have already taken your first step toward personal change and growth. Making that first step though, can be daunting and full of uncertainty. Part of my role is to help you understand what counselling is and what it isn’t and to help you feel more confident in making sure it is right for you.
As a qualified professional, I will provide you with a safe space in which you can speak freely and with confidence that what you say is being heard without judgement.
I believe we all have the capacity within ourselves to make change and improve our lives. I can help you connect with that part of yourself, to make sense of what troubles you and ultimately, to find the answers you need. I work with both short- and long-term counselling depending on your needs. For some a few sessions is enough to work through a specific problem. For others, perhaps with more complex issues, therapy can last months, even years. Some clients may take a break but return to counselling many times.
We are all unique beings, and our challenges and solutions are just as unique too. My approach brings in various models of counselling and therapy and my aim is always to offer the right therapy to match your needs. I work in a very open way and will always welcome conversation about the process we work through together.
People come to me for help a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through counselling:
Feelings of stress or anxiety
Panic attacks
Relationship problems
Grief, loss or bereavement
Problems with addiction
Trauma and post-traumatic stress
Depression
Problems with confidence or self-esteem
Anger management
Issues relating to sexuality
Difficulties at work or in retirement
Problems with family or school life
Usually, clients book weekly sessions with each session lasting 50 minutes. However, we all have different needs and lifestyles and so there is room for flexibility with this. Some clients prefer to book an initial session before committing to a block booking, others prefer to book well in advance. As an example, short term counselling could be between six to twelve weeks. Long term counselling can be as open-ended as need be.
In short, to the best of my ability and availability, I will tailor the way we work together to suit your needs. If you are benefitting therapeutically from the sessions, there is no limit to the number of sessions you may have.
£45 per session in-person or virtual through Zoom.
£40 per session via phone call.
Please contact me to inquire about availability.
Please note that if you need to cancel an appointment, I appreciate at least 24 hours' notice to avoid a cancellation fee.
I work face to face in the Bromsgrove and Redditch areas. Exact location details will be provided when we arrange our counselling sessions.
I also offer counselling online and by phone.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
You can also call me on 07983 602515 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first.
All enquires are usually answered within 24 hours, and all contact is strictly confidential and uses secure phone and email services.
